Battle of the Crater, Jackson, Michigan 2001
The 8th finally had their tents and baggage catch up with them by the Siege of Petersburg, so we decided we should use them for a change. Well over half of us had shelter halves for this one. Not me though, I don't think I've slept in a tent since Shiloh 135.

Our officer asked them what they were fighting for and they said:
"Wur fightin' fo' ar rats"
To which he replied:
"In Michigan we wouldn't call our women rats. Unless... they really are.. hmm... I've got this disgusting picture in my mind now. Get away from me."
